The Allen-Bradley 1746-BLM is a Blow Molding Module which interfaces with the SLC 500 processor. The 1746-BLM receives configuration and run-time data from the SLC 500 and returns process variables and statuses back to the processor. This allows for a choice of multiple operator interfaces. The 1746-BLM is based on the Allen-Bradley Small Logic Controller (SLC™). There are many benefits offered with the 1746-BLM, including easy installation, simple operation, and the support the module provides for various machines. Insert the 1746-BLM into a SLC chassis and it's almost ready to go to work. In addition, the 1746-BLM provides a maximum of 4 axes of closed-loop parison control compatible with most types of blow molding machines.
The 1746-BLM features four analog inputs/outputs, four digital inputs/outputs, and a sensor excitation output. The four digital inputs and outputs are used for synchronization and profile setup. The four analog inputs and outputs are used for process variables and signals. For linear potentiometers, a sensor excitation output is provided. During installation, the task of synchronization with your ladder program is made more simple by creating corresponding status bits between the input and output files. Be sure to never insert or remove this module with the backplane power on. This can cause an electrical arc that could cause an explosion or damage the module.
The 1746-BLM does not require external power. It is fully integrated with the SLC controller. The module provides a blow molding solution and a platform solution in the form of the SLC architecture. This allows you to further extend the investment you have already made.
