The 1408-EM3A-ENT module from Allen-Bradley is a power monitor 1000 series energy and power monitor module, and it serves as an energy management meter. There are basic consumption meters, and basic consumption and troubleshooting meters are two further types of devices available from Allen-Bradley as part of the Power Monitor 1000 series. The 1408-EM3A-ENT module includes an integrated Ethernet connection for network communication. The 1408-EM3A-ENT module can accept DC (direct current) and AC (alternating current) power. The 1408-EM3A-ENT module is designed to be used as a circuit protection device, not as a circuit protective relay or a motor overload relay. To avoid harm and damage to equipment, all power sources must be disconnected before beginning any work related to installing or maintaining the 1408-EM3A-ENT module. Failure to do so can result in property damage, bodily harm, or even death. It is recommended that trained personnel should perform installation and repair work on the 1408-EM3A-ENT module. The 1408-EM3A-ENT module connects to a three-phase or split-phase alternating current (AC) power system. It converts voltage and current values to digital numbers, which are then used to calculate power, energy, voltage, and current. Modbus RTU slave, DH-485, DF1 half-duplex slave, and DF1 full-duplex protocols are all supported by the RS-485 interface. The device's control input can range from 120 to 240 volts AC or 125 to 250 volts DC. The 1408-EM3A-ENT drive can operate in temperatures ranging from -10 to 60 degrees Celsius. The dielectric withstand rating meets UL61010 and EN61010 standards. Only 14 to 22 AWG-rated copper wire is advised for wires terminating on the 1408-EM3A-ENT drive's voltage and current sensing inputs.
