Allen Bradley/Rockwell Automation created the 25-COMM-E2P adapter, a dual-port Ethernet/IP adapter for the PowerFlex 520 series, to be used in conjunction with PowerFlex 520 series drives to enable network communication between them. Within the host, the PowerFlex 520 drive is where this adaptor is put. Its physical components include two Ethernet/IP ports, one node address button/switch, CS1 & CS2 terminals, a card drive for communication header, and status LED indicators. In addition, switches that can specify a node network address before powering on the drive are supported, as are linear, star, and device-level ring network topologies. It is also possible to deactivate these options and use a BOOTP server in their place. The status indicators of the Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation 25-COMM-E2P dual-port Ethernet/IP adapter provide information on the adapter's operation and network communications. This adapter features parameters that have been adjusted with datalinks (16-bit) in the Input/Output to accommodate different application needs. The Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation PowerFlex 525 and 523 series drives are completely compatible with this adaptor. In some systems or applications, the multicast Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation 25-COMM-E2P dual-port Ethernet/IP adapter may need an IGMP snooping switch to function effectively. A keyboard and monitor are included with this adapter, which may be used to input and adjust various adapter parameters. To guarantee that there will be no harm to the system's devices or human injuries, the host drive must be fully powered off before installing the Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation 25-COMM-E2P dual-port Ethernet/IP adapter.
