The Allen-Bradley PLC-5-30 is a Standard PLC-5 Programmable Logic Controller. This PLC-5 controller belongs to 1785 series and potential users can find it in catalogs designated as the 1785-L30B controller. The users must install this PLC into one of the available 1771 chassis components along with the power supply module and I/O modules. To install this module into the chassis, the users must lift the locking bar on the chassis, move the ejector tab on the PLC module, and then slide the processor into the left-most slot of their chassis.
The PLC program can be easily transferred to any other PLC-5 controller. The PLC-5-30 can support up to 1024 I/O points and the user memory holds 16K words. The memory of this controller is divided into two areas – the data area and the program files area. The operators can use I/O modules from the Bulletin 1771 I/O, Bulletin 1794 I/O, Bulletin 1746 I/O, and the Bulletin 1791 I/O series to control their automation equipment. This device is intended to be used at temperatures ranging from 0 to 60 degrees Celsius (32 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit). Proper environmental conditions include a relative humidity range of 5 to 95% (without condensation). The module is delivered in open style housing. There are 3 types of memory modules that users can order separately (the 1785-ME32, 1785-ME64, and 1785-M100). The power dissipation of the device is 12W and it uses 2.3 Amps of backplane current. This module housing has dimensions of 193 millimeters x 315 millimeters x 217 millimeters (7.6 inches x 12.4 inches x 8.5 inches).
