The Allen-Bradley PLC-5-26 is a 1785 series PLC-5 Programmable Logic Controller. This is the standard type of PLC-5 controller with protected memory. It has an EEPROM-based protected memory for increased security. The catalog number for this device is 1785-L26B. This PLC system can be expended with up to 512 I/O connecting points. User memory can be filled with 16,000 words. For communication purposes, you have one DH+ and one DH+ or Remote I/O (adapter or scan) connection at your disposal. The device can be installed into 1771-A1B, 1771-A2B, 1771-A3B, 1771-A3B1, and 1771-A4B chassis. It saves project development time and improves productivity. This PLC has a backplane current of 2.3 Amps at 5 Volts and its maximum power dissipation is 12 Watts. The Allen-Bradley PLC-5-26 covers voltage isolation between communication ports (500 Volts tested for 1 minute) and between the communication ports and relay cartridge (1000 Volts tested for 1 minute).
From the front side of the device, the operators have a key switch to select the control mode (prog, rem, run). There is also a battery indicator (it turns red when the battery is low), a processor RUN/FAULT indicator, a force indicator, and a communication status indicator. There is a slot for the memory module and there are terminals for battery connection. Users can order the battery separately (the Allen-Bradley code is 1770-XYC). Isolate the PLC-5-26 system from other equipment and walls for good convection cooling. The air is drawn vertically over the processor for proper cooling. The air temperature around this device should not exceed 60 degrees Celsius (140 degrees Fahrenheit) at any point. The device is packed in an open type enclosure.
