The Allen-Bradley PLC-5-20C ControlNet PLC-5 Programmable controller, is a processor module for the PLC-5 programmable controller family with ControlNet communication capabilities which provide centralized and distribution system control in a variety of applications. This processor has a 16,000 Word memory capacity for fast and efficient processing, and it is designed to support a maximum of 512 I/O configuration (512 inputs or 512 outputs). The PLC-5-20C is located on the processor slot (leftmost slot) of the 1771 I/O chassis, and it has a backplane current draw of 2.7 Amps at 5 Volts DC input, and it has an operating heat dissipation of 54 BTU/hour. This processor has an internally designed clock and calendar with 1 program per scan time of accuracy, backed up with a 2-year battery (1770-XYC), and it supports an external EEPROM module for program data backup. The PLC-5-20C supports the 1771 I/O 8, 16, and 32 points modules in any 2, 1, and ½ slots addressing configuration, and it can support a maximum 12 connected I/O chassis and 3 I/O racks.
This processor has 1 ControlNet Network Access Port (NAP) with a 5 MegaBit per second transmission rate and a network update time of 2 to 100 milliseconds, and it supports 99 maximum nodes over 6000 meters of maximum cable distance (with a repeater).
