The Allen-Bradley PLC-5-15 Classic LC-5 Processor is a 6K word processor module for the Allen-Bradley PLC-5 Classic (Standard) Programmable Controller which is designed to be in a centralized control system, or in a distributed control system. The PLC-5-15 processor is a chassis-based processor installed on the left-most slot of any of the compatible Allen-Bradley 1771 chassis, and it is designed to accommodate a maximum of 512 I/O or 512 inputs or 512 outputs by using a 16-point or 32-point module. This process can support up to 12 I/O chassis, with a maximum of 3 I/O racks, and it draws a 2.5 Amps backplane current from the chassis. The PLC-5-15 is a stand-alone processor with a remote I/O communication capability which is used as a remote I/O scanner to scan remote I/O links, and it can be used as a supervisory processor for other processors, and it scans at a rate of 2 milliseconds per K word in bit logic.
The PLC-5-15 also supports the Allen-Bradley Data Highway plus (DH+) communication capability, and it comes with an 8K EEPROM module and a 3.6 Volts DC battery module for efficient backup of operation data. This processor supports the Bulletin 1771 8, 16, and 32 point I/O modules, and it addresses any mix of 8-point, 16-point, and 32-point modules and 2-slot, 1-slot, and ½-slot hardware addressing systems. The PLC-5-15 is installed on the leftmost slot of the 1771 processor slot by keying it between pins 40 and 42, and 54 and 56, and when operational, it can withstand 30G shock for 11 milliseconds duration. It has an operating temperature range of 32 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit at 5 to 95% non-condensing relative humidity, and it has a storage range of -40 to 185 degrees Fahrenheit. The PLC-5-15 weighs approximately 1.3 Kilograms, and it has CSA and UL certifications.
