The 1785-ME32 is an industrial product manufactured by Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation. It belongs to the Allen-Bradley 1785 memory module series and it can be used as a program backup module. The EEPROM features an expansion port for the control coprocessor. The 1785-ME32 EEPROM module weighs 70.875 grams or 2.5 ounces. The storage capacity of this memory module is 32K words. Because of its use as a program backup module, the 1785-ME32 offers a user-modifiable ROM, allowing users to erase or reprogram the ROM by supplying with a voltage that is higher than normal. The EEPROM module has a write protection jumper attached to it. The jumper should be removed with the help of needle-nose pliers, once the program is written to the module. The 1785-ME32 EEPROM memory module has been certified by Underwriter Laboratories and the Canadian Standards Association and it meets the European Union Directive for Electromagnetic Compatibility. The EEPROM module has an electrostatic discharge immunity of 6-kilovolt contact discharges and 8-kilovolt air discharge.

The 1785-ME32 is installed in the 1785 I/O processor which is attached to the backplane I/O chassis. To install the memory module, first remove the processor from the I/O chassis carefully. Insert the 1785-ME32 memory module into the processor, making sure that the keying pin is in a downward position. Push the memory module firmly enough so that its connector pins snap together with the I/O processor’s mating connector. Now, insert the processor back into the I/O chassis and latch it.
