The 1785-LT3 is a classic PLC-5 programmable controller from Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation is primarily used for centralized control or distributed control within a bigger system. The PLC-5 controller has many special programming features and it allows the incorporation of different strategies to achieve full control of the system. This Allen-Bradley processor has a DH+ channel and a Remote I/O channel (adapter only). The DH+ channel of the controller allows remote programming and easier access to needed data than previous PLCs. Special DH+ links are also valuable for the transfer of data to higher degree computers. The intended usage of the DH+ link is to provide communication means for the 1785-LT3 controller in order to communicate with other processors and programming terminals from the system.
The 1785-LT3 PLC-5 processor features 512 maximum total I/O and 256 maximum Analog I/O. The SRAM user memory for the controller is 6K words, unlike some similar controllers. In addition, the controller has maximum of 93 I/O Chassis total, 0 maximum I/O Extended Local Chassis, and 32 maximum Universal Remote I/O Chassis. per each I/O link. Besides that, the controller has one RS-232-C/422-A/423- A port and one control coprocessor expansion port. Other specifications include a maximum of 3072 Analog I/O and an I/O scan time per rack of 10 milliseconds at 57.6 kilobits per second, 7 milliseconds at 115.2 kilobits per second, and 3 milliseconds at 230.4 megabits per second. The controller has a backplane current of 2.5 Amps at 5 Volts DC. When operating the controller, the temperature should be between 0 and 60 degrees Celsius (32 and 140 degrees Fahrenheit). The non-operating storage temperature is between -40 and 85 degrees Celsius (-40 and 185 degrees Fahrenheit). It is strongly suggested that the users hold the device in an environment which has a temperature within the given ranges.
