The 1785-L80C is a ControlNet enabled processor module for PLC-5 controllers. The ControlNet network provides peer to peer connectivity and I/O control on a reliable network offering a 5 Mbps bandwidth. One of the major advantages of ControlNet is the ability of ControlNet-enabled processors to communicate with each other and with their own I/O. The 1785-L80C is installed in the left-most slot in a 1771 chassis. The typical scan time for programs is 2 milliseconds per K words. The user memory provided on the 1785-L80C is 100K words. The module can manage up to 3072 I/O (any mix or 3072 inputs or outputs). The maximum I/O chassis supported are 125, including 92 remote chassis.
The communications ports on the 1785-L80C module include one serial, one ControlNet, and two DH+/Remote I/O ports. The ControlNet port supports 5 Mbps data rate, 2 to 100 milliseconds of network update time, 48 nodes per link without a repeater, and up to 107 nodes per link with repeaters. The DH+/Remote I/O ports support 57.6 Kbps, 115.2 Kbps, and 230.4 Kbps transmission rates with corresponding typical per-rack scan times of 10 milliseconds, 7 milliseconds, and 3 milliseconds. The 1785-L80C dissipates 59 BTU/hour as heat. The current consumption is 3.3 Amps at 5 Volts DC. The storage and operating temperatures are -40 to 85 degrees Celsius and 0 to 60 degrees Celsius respectively. The module requires 5 to 95% relative humidity for optimal operation. The weight of the module is 1.42 kilograms.
