The 1785-L20C Module is an Allen-Bradley PLC 5 ControlNet Processor Module. It has 512 maximum total I/O, 16 maximum MCPs, with a Serial Port and a Coprocessor Port. The Allen-Bradley 1785-L20C PLC-5 is a programmable ControlNet controller and processor. When installing the 1785-L20C PLC-5 processor, an approved ground point should be used, and the users should avoid touching the connector pins or the backplane connector. And when the processor is not in use, it should be kept in its static-shielded container to avoid electric shock and any likely static-related damage to the processor. The Allen-Bradley 1785-L20C has a red/green RUN/FAULT indicator light, a red battery indicator light, an amber force indicator light, a red/green Channel 2 indicator light, a red/green ControlNet I/O indicator light, and a red/green ACTIVE/FAULT Channel 0 Communication indicator light on the front panel. The front panel carries a battery compartment, memory module, processor mode selection key switch, and numerous channel ports.
The 1785-L20C is designed and intended for use with an I/O chassis. Before removing or installing the PLC-5 processor, ensure that the chassis power is switched off. The 1785-L20C is equipped with a serial port, a coprocessor port, and control coprocessor expansion port. It supports up to 512 normal I/O and 512 analog I/O. It has a scan time of 2 milliseconds per keyword. The I/O scan time per rack is 10 milliseconds at 57.6 kbit/second, and it is 7 milliseconds at 115.2 kbit/second. It comes with tools for installing the processor, including a lithium battery known as the 1770-XYC, a battery cover and a screw, 4 terminating resistors 150-Ohm, 2 keys, 2 82-Ohm terminating resistors. It also has a DIN rail connector cover, a cable adapter called the 1784-CP7, and two 3-pin connectors.
