The 1785-KA PLC 5 Data Highway/Data Highway Plus Communication Adapter Module by Allen Bradley is an adapter module which connects PLC 5 controllers on the Data Highway Plus network with redistribution points (nodes) on the Allen Bradley Data Highway. The 1785-KA is fitted on a single slot of the 1771 I/O chassis, and requires a backplane current of 1.5 A at 5 Volts DC from the chassis supplied power source. It connects to the Data Highway through the 15-pin male EIA D-shell connector communication port on the side, and to the Data Highway Plus via the 3-screw terminal block using the Data Highway and Data Highway Plus connector cables. It can also connect to the 1784-T50 Terminal through the 9-pin male EIA D-shell connector.
This module has a communication speed of 57.6 kb on the Data Highway and the Data Highway Plus network. The 1785-KA has 6 switch assemblies (SW1 through SW6), which provide selections between the various communication options; the SW1 switch allows for selection of the DDH+ and Data Highway communication rates. The SW 2 and 3 are designated “for future use”, and the switches SW4, SW5, and SW6 are used to set Redistribution points (node addresses) of the module on the Data Highway and Data Highway Plus Networks. The module has a keying position between pins 4 and 6, and between pins 24 and 26 of the slot rack. It has an ambient working temperature range between 0 to 60 degrees Celsius and is stored at a range of -40 to 85 degrees Celsius.
