The 1785-ENET PLC-5 EtherNet Interface Module by Allen-Bradley is an EtherNet/IP enabled interface module located on a single I/O slot in the 1771 I/O chassis. When attached to the Programmable Logic Controller (PLC-5), it enables EtherNet connectivity on the controller. This module has a backplane rating of 1.0 Amps at 5 Volts DC and it dissipates 5 Watts of power. When used with an enhanced PLC-5 controller, the 1785-ENET enables EtherNet connectivity without disabling the DH+/RIO ports, and it conveniently provides Ethernet connectivity with a ControlNet PLC-5 controller. It can also run dual Ethernet links with the Ethernet PLC-5 controller.
The module provides a 50-Volt circuit isolation using the basic insulation type tested for 60 seconds at 500 Volts AC between communications to systems, and uses the Ethernet 802.3 compliant (TCP/IP) shielded or unshielded twisted wire pair for connections. It has 2 “on” communications ports in the wire category, and it supports the Ethernet (TCP/IP protocol 8-pin RJ45 port) communication protocol. With a designated T5 (North America) and IEC T5 temperature code, it is tested to operate without derating around a temperature range of 0 to 60 degrees Celsius (32 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit) at 5% to 95% non-condensing relative humidity. It is also tested to withstand a 2.0 G operational vibration at 10 to 500 Hertz, and to maintain the standard specified functionality at an operational shock of 30 G. This unit weighs approximately 0.77 kilograms (1.7 pounds) and it has dimensions of 273.05 x 31.75 x 146.05 millimeters (10.75 x 1.25 x 5.75 inches).

The 1785-ENET module is an Ethernet interface module by Allen-Bradley. It is a single slot module from the PLC 5 series. It is attached to the PLC system and it provides Ethernet connectivity to the attached processor. By using this Ethernet module, the processor is able to communicate with other Ethernet devices. The module offers 10/100 MB peer to peer communication. The interface module can make up to 64 simultaneous connections with 512 definitions per module. Multiple instructions can use the same path to a device. It can be used for local programming with the DH+ or RS-232 protocol. The 1785-ENET module is powered with a current rating of 2.2 Amps and voltage rating of 5 Volts DC. The backplane current rating is 2.2 Amps. The module dissipates 37.54 BTU per hour as heat under normal operation. The environmental temperature should be set between 0 and 60 degrees Celsius for regular operation.
The Allen-Bradley PLC 5 1785-ENET Ethernet interface module is certified with the CE, UL, and CSA ratings. It weighs 2.1 pounds. The 1785-ENET module comes with LED indicators on the front that shows the module’s operating status and the transmission of data through the module. An external transceiver fuse is also present on the bottom of the module for protection and it is next to a 15-pin AUI connector port which takes in a D connector. During the installation process, the power to the chassis should be turned off for safety. The 1785-ENET Ethernet interface module can be installed by raising the locking bar and inserting it securely into the leftmost slot of the chassis.
The 1785-ENET module is an Ethernet interface module by Allen-Bradley. It is from the PLC 5 family.
