The Allen-Bradley 1785-CH0RAPM1 is the Single Remote Access Paging Modem for the PLC-5. It allows a single user to remotely access the PLC-5 for collecting data and checking the system status. PLCs are often installed at remote locations, on plants at a distance from cities and towns. In such situations, it is costly and time consuming to visit the plants to check the operational status of the PLCs and to troubleshoot problems. For this reason, Allen-Bradley provides modems that enable remote access to PLCs and also send alarm and status messages to pagers and cell phones.
The modem also allows the PLC to send alarm conditions and system status messages to cellphones and alphanumeric pagers. Over 250 alarms with user-defined text messages can be sent to keep plant managers updated regarding the production status and to notify them of problem situations. Other features include user-defined text messages, multi pager support (up to 16 users), text messages of up to 100 characters, alarm triggers, and system diagnostic pages. A maximum of four 1785-CH0RAMP1 modems are supported per system. The 1785-CH0RAMP1 modem weighs 0.3 pounds. Its power requirement is 0.6 Amps at 5 Volts DC. The modem provides two DH+ / RIO (Data Highway Plus / Remote Input Output) interfaces. One status LED per communication channel is also provided.
