The Allen-Bradley 1784-U2DN PLC 5 series cable is a USB-to-DeviceNet adapter cable that was made to allow a computer to connect to a DeviceNet network. This cable is 0.61 meters (2 feet) long and has a USB connector that can connect easily to a computer's USB port. This cable has an IP 30 protection rating and is not waterproof or water-resistant. In addition to the USB connector, the 1784-U2DN cable has a 5-pin female DeviceNet connector. This cable also has status indicator lights for providing module, USB, and network status updates. It has node address selector switches for simple node address setup, and it is certified to meet C-Tick, CE, and UL standards. The 1784-U2DN adapter cable also has a data rate switch that can be used to select data rates of 125, 250, or 500 Kbps. This cable has a feature that can automatically detect the data rate of an active DeviceNet network. It falls back to a fallback transmission rate when its automated rate detection fails to detect another transmission rate. The factory default fallback rate is 125 Kbps, and this rated is user-configurable. The 1784-U2DN cable can be used safely in an industrial environment with a maximum temperature rating of 55 degrees Celsius. The cable’s USB supply rating is 75 milliamps at 5 Volts DC, and the cable’s DeviceNet supply rating is 70 milliamps at 24 Volts DC. The 1784-U2DN cable’s power consumption rating is 0.5 Watts, and its power dissipation rating is 0.5 Watts. The 1784-U2DN cable’s continuous isolation voltage rating is 30 Volts with basic insulation.
