The Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation EEPROM memory module known as the 1772-MJ is a plug-in module that is used with Mini-PLC-2/05 processors. The intended purpose of these modules is to provide a back-up memory, which increases the overall usability of the processors. Usually, the EEPROM module is an optional element, which could be purchased separately. The module is used primarily with –LS and –LSP mini processors from the Allen-Bradley 1772 series. The 1772-MJ memory module has three recovery modes that the user can utilize if the processor loose power. The EEPROM (Electrically Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory) is a memory module that can be used to create a copy of processor’s memory from its CMOS RAM if unpredicted events occur when the module is in a remote program mode. In addition to memory module, the users can use a back-up battery to ensure that data table values stay intact after power losses. The EEPROM module can also be used for storing an alternate program, which could be used later to download it into the processor memory.
The 1772-MJ 3K non-volatile module has an output current of 4 Amps at 5 Volts DC and it works on 50/60 Hertz frequency. The module’s digital voltage spans from 10 to 32 Volts DC and it features an amperage of 0.80/0.40 Amps. Modules of this type do not require any external power source to operate and their screw torque is at the 7 to 9 pounds on an inch rate. The typical signal delay when the module is in an off-state is 29 milliseconds (+/- 8 milliseconds) for AC and 30 milliseconds (+/- 7 milliseconds) for DC. The 1772 module has an approximate width of 114.3 millimeters (4.5 inches), a height of 314.9 millimeters (12.4 inches), and a depth of 160 millimeters (6.3 inches), and it also weighs a bit more than 100 grams (0.2 pounds). This model, like other replacement parts, has been coated with a conformal coating. The 1772-MJ module mounts easily at the bottom side of the processor and it can be also used with the 1771-WN wiring arm for better accessibility.
