The 1771-WN is a powerful piece of equipment by Allen Bradley that is intended for operation in industrial environments with Degree 2 Pollution levels. Belonging to Series B, this contact output module is suitable for overvoltage Category II applications, in which it can be used to switch resistive loads only (not capacitive or inductive). The module is compatible with most 1771 Series B contact modules, including the 1771-ID, 1771-ODZ, 1771-OZL, 1771-ID01, 1771-OYL, 1771-OD, 1771-OW, and the 1771-OR. The 1771 I/O chassis clamp allows for ‘swing-away’ operation, allowing easy access the module. With an integral locking tab, the module offers optimal connection integrity. Fabricated with an industrial-grade thermoplastic, the 1771-WN features one connection point for every required input or output, plus any other connection points necessary for both line and input signal power, as well as ground or return. The fused Wiring Arm provides maximum fuse protection for all outputs and makes it possible to carry out fuse replacement without necessarily having to remove the module from its chassis. In this 16-output module, losing a single circuit won’t affect any other available signals. The module can concurrently switch all 32 outputs to isolate loads with a 12A maximum load per module. A maximum current of 2.5A is drawn from the input/output chassis power supply. The nominal backplane current of this module is rated at 1.8A.

The 1771-WN is entirely configurable with the 1771-WH Wiring Arm, which can act as a direct replacement. The input/output Conversion System provides a quick and efficient way of converting 1771 PLC-5 to 1756 ControlLogix. This conversion is achieved without disconnecting any field wires that are already existent in the swing arm, which also minimizes the risk of wiring faults. The available swing arms have been designed in such a way that they fit directly into the I/O conversion module’s edge connector. All cables are pre-wired and come with a conversion connector on one end, plus a Removable Terminal Block on the opposite end. When replacing fuses, ensure that each fuse holder is removed without damaging or changing the output module. The 1771-WN output contact is highly sensitive to electrostatic discharge so the provided guidelines should be followed closely, as this might cause internal damage and interfere with normal operation. To discharge potential static, the user can either wear a protective wrist strap or touch a grounded object.
