The 1771-WG is a PLC-5 Wiring Arm manufactured by Allen-Bradley. It features 21 gold contact-plated terminals with 16 I/O points for connections. The main function of this device is to offer flexible interconnection between the plant wiring and Allen-Bradley 1771 I/O modules. This device features a conformal coating that makes it ideal for low resistance applications. The 1771-WG has a screw torque of 7-9 pounds on an inch, its dimensions are 4.5 x 12.4 x 6.3 inches, and it weighs 0.2 pounds. The analog input module is an intelligent block transfer mechanism, which interfaces input signals using any Allen-Bradley controller with block transfer capability. This block-programming feature allows the transfer of input data words from the memory of the module to the required region in the processor data table within a single scan.
The 1771-WG’s integral I/O chassis provides a swing-away operation, which makes it possible to access the modules and their linking. This is further enhanced by the presence of the integral module-locking tab, which increases the connection integrity. The 1771-WG is designed in a way to achieve industrial-grade thermoplastic. Each of the wiring arms features one connection point (two for isolated circuits), which serves each required output or input to the module. Similarly, it offers a point of connection to the required ancillary connection points for line or signal input power ground or return. The 1771-WG also features 14 AWG incoming wires that can be attached or spade –lugged to the arm. During installation, it is important to minimize the ground loops by ensuring the use of a single-ended mode, use of 2-wire transmitters with similar powers supply and the use of 2-wire and 4-wire transmitters between different modules.
