The 1771-WB field wiring arm by Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation is an I/O connection hardware for PLC-5/1771 systems. This wiring arm is intended to serve as an interconnection between plant wiring and an I/O module from the 1771 series of Allen-Bradley products. In general, wiring arms will provide significant flexibility and easy module access with “swing-away” operation that is achieved through an integral universal I/O chassis clamp. The field wiring arm is one of the four major components of the remote I/O adapter module and it provides connection points for I/O communication cables and the I/O chassis pushbutton for restarting the machine. The rugged locking tab of the integral module will provide superior integrity of a connection. The 1771-WB PLC-5 field wiring arm features supports a maximum of 8 analog I/O modules and 12 terminals. The wiring arm features 29 (+/- 8) milliseconds typical AC signal delay (off) and 30 (+/- 7) milliseconds typical DC signal delay (off).
The 1771-WB wiring arm is manufactured from hard a thermoplastic material that is resistant to many conditions in an industrial environment and it has gold contact plating. Each wiring arm needs 1 or 2 connection points in case of isolated circuits for the module’s required I/O. Also, additional connection points are needed for line/signal input power and ground/return. All wiring arms of this type have a 7 to 9 pounds-on-an-inch screw torque. These wiring arms can work without using an external power source and they are protected with a special conformal coating which is not unusual for industrial devices and supplementary products. It is important to note that all of the incoming AWG 14 wires are either clamped or spade lugged directly to the wiring arm. The approximate weight of the 1771-WB field wiring arm is 100 grams or 0.2 pounds and its dimensions include a width of 114.3 millimeters (4.5 inches), a height of 314.9 millimeters (12.4 inches) and a depth of 160 millimeters (6.3 inches).
