Other Available Revisions for the 1771-SN 1771-SN//A1771-SN//B
The Allen-Bradley 1771-SN is the sub I/O scanner module for PLC systems. It is compatible with processors that support block-transfer including the PLC-2, PLC-3, PLC-5, and PLC-5/250. The 1771-SN is compatible with any 1771 I/O chassis and it can be installed in any I/O module slot in the chassis. The scanner module can be connected to remote I/O adapters via a twinaxial cable. The 1771-SN can be used to expand a system to a maximum of 896 digital I/Os. It can interface with a maximum of 16 remote I/O adapters that support discrete transfer. As the response time for remote I/Os is relatively large compared to local I/Os, it is recommended to use the 1771-SN with digital I/Os that do not require rapid response times. Example of such suitable digital I/Os include pilot lights, a thumbwheel switch, and devices for read-outs.
The 1771-SN supports 57.6 kbps data rate with 10,000 feet of cable and 115.2 kbps with 5000 feet of cable. The 1770-CD cable or the equivalent can be used for module interconnection. The module is not compatible with complementary I/O. To prevent damage to the 1771-SN, unused modules should be placed in static-shield bags, connector pins, or a backplane connector should not be touched and operators should discharge themselves by touching any grounded object prior to holding the module. Power to the I/O chassis should be turned off prior to installing the 1771-SN module in the chassis. The working temperature range of the 1771-SN is from 0 to 60 degrees Celsius at 5 to 95% relative humidity. The module draws 1.2 Amps from the chassis backplane and dissipates maximum 7 Watts power. The thermal dissipation is a maximum of 24 BTUs.
