The Allen-Bradley 1771-PCB or PCBridge software package is a programming or user interface that is used for program development. The 1771-PCB package includes PCBridge registration cards, software disks, and other software info enclosed in the Software Agreement Envelope. It also contains documentation for Set D1771-L03 (1771-6.5.95, -6.5.102, -6.4.11, -6.5.103, -6.5.104, and -6.5.106). The 1771-PCB or PCBridge is compatible for use with 1771 Control Coprocessors. It functions on DOS-based computers and can both upload and download executable modules and files to/from the control coprocessor. It enables user activities, both online and offline, as well as initiating or terminating tasks using the OS-9 operating system.
The 1771-PCB is a control coprocessor program development and cross compiler module that is useful for a variety of applications.These include production scheduling, historical data logging or tracking, high-speed search and comparison of large files, protocol conversions, and complex math calculations. This module also provides a downloadable driver that offers the INTERCHANGE server functionality. INTERCHANGE is an Allen-Bradley API (application-programming interface) that permits easy and constant access to control system info. Users can program the control coprocessors via a personal computer or an ASCII terminal. If operators are using a personal computer, they program it using the PCBridge software and text editor. If they’re using an ASCII terminal, they can program it using the OS-9 command-line interface. To install the 1771-PCB software, a personal computer must have at least 2 MB of online disk storage, 640 KBs RAM, and DOS 4.0 or later. The operator should also have a sufficient knowledge of DOS and its utilities, including DIR, COPY, TYPE, and DOS text editor.
