The Allen-Bradley 1771-P5K is a conformal-coated power supply module which is installed in the 2 slots of the 1771 module which is also manufactured by Allen-Bradley. The 1771-P5K has an input voltage range of 20.5 Volts DC to 30 Volts DC and the nominal input voltage is 24 Volts DC. The module has a power output of 5 Volts DC and 8 Amps. The module is operated within a temperature range of 0 to 60 degrees Celsius and in a non-condensing humid environment with 5 to 95% relative humidity. The conformal coating creates a protective film which seals the humidity and other contaminants and which protects the module from the changes in humidity and also prevents corrosion to the circuit board. This will increase the life of the product and hence the device can be used in corrosive environments.
The device can act as a primary or secondary source or power supply to power the various modules connected to the I/O chassis of the system. It is to be installed in 2 slots in the module. When connecting the device, it is recommended to turn off the input supply to prevent damage due to shock and also to prevent electric shock to the personnel. Operators have to follow the safety guidelines when replacing the module to prevent injury and damage. If a greater current than normal is required, users can connect the 1771-P5K module in parallel with another 1771-P5K power supply module by using the provided cable. The power supply should not be connected in parallel with any other power supply.
