The 1771-NIS is a high-resolution analog I/O input module by Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation. This 1771-NIS module is a member of the Allen-Bradley 1771-N series of I/O modules and it is designed with 8 current input channels without any channels for output. The channel inputs are rated for 4-20mA and the 1771-NIS module provides the input circuit loops with power during operation. The 1771-NIS module is connected to the 1771 I/O chassis and from here it draws a backplane current of 2.4 Amps.
The 1771-NIS input module interfaces with a number of programmable controllers that include PLC-3, PLC-5, and PLC-5/250. In addition, while in use, the 1771-NIS module dissipates 12W and it is designed to take up to 5 seconds of maximum time to detect an open circuit. The 1771-NIS also has a normal mode rejection of 50/60dB and a typical common mode rejection of 150dB. The data format is set as natural binary, the typical AC signal delay ranges between 30 and 60 milliseconds and the typical DC signal delay is 50 milliseconds for this 1771-NIS module.
During use, the manufacturers recommend that the 1771-NIS input module be combined with the RTP-4 thermocouple. In addition, the power of the 1771 chassis on which the 1771-NIS is connected should be turned off before this input module is removed or installed. The working temperature of the 1771-NIS module is made to operate optimally at 0 to 60 degrees Celsius and at 5-95% relative humidity. The 1771-NIS module is rack mountable and it comes with the Allen-Bradley 1771-WH wiring arm. The 1771-NIS module is also designed to provide protection against overvoltage at 24 Volts DC.
