The Allen-Bradley/ Rockwell Automation 1771-NBV1 is a PLC5 high resolution analog combination module. As part of the Allen-Bradley 1771-N series of combination modules, the 1771-NBV1 combination module has 8 input/output channels, six of which are for input and the other 2 are for output. The 1771-NBV1 is an intelligent block transfer module which is mainly used to act as an interface for analog signals with PLC3/5 programmable controllers by Allen-Bradley that can perform block transfers. For proper performance, the 1771-NBV1 module needs just one slot in the I/O chassis with no need for an external power supply. However, the 1771-NBV1 module needs two cable assemblies to make its connection to the RTP. The cable assemblies that are recommended for use in this case include the 1771-NC6 that is 6 ft long and the 1771-NC15 which is 15 ft long.
The 1771-NBV1 module draws a 1.6A backplane current and it needs about 9s or less time to detect open circuits on the input. The 1771-NBV1 module offers an overvoltage protection on the inputs of 140V AC RMS continuous. During voltage in, this 1771-NBV1 module uses the RTP4 but it is recommended to use the 1771-RTP3 during current In. In addition, before inserting the module or removing it from the I/O chassis, the power needs to be disconnected because this device dissipates 8W while operating. However, from the factory, the 1771-NBV1 module comes with a 1771-WH wiring arm and it performs optimally in an industrial environment whose temperature range is 32-140oF at 5-95% non-condensing humidity.
