The Allen-Bradley 1771-IQ16K is a conformal-coated isolated input module. The module is marine-certified with Det Norske Veritas (DNV) approval. The 1771-IQ16K operates at a voltage category of between 10 and 60V DC and it has 16 inputs. The module draws a 100-milliamperes current from the backplane. The conformal coating makes the module suitable to be used in extreme environmental condition which have high levels of pollutants such as moisture, dust, etc. These pollutants are likely to hinder the optimal performance of other types of modules that cannot withstand the harsh industrial conditions. The conformal coating also acts as an electrical insulation which insulates the circuitry surface. For monitoring and troubleshooting, the 1771-IQ16K module has LED status indicators on its face panel. The indicators help monitor the status of all the inputs plus a general LED indicator which indicates if the module has or has not powered up and initialized successfully.
The 1771-IQ16K meets safety requirements for low voltage and it has proximity switches (AC) that have an off-state current leakage that does not exceed 2.8 milliamperes. Additionally, the module supports fuse kits (optional) from Allen-Bradley. The module has a normal DC signal delay of 0, 1, 9, and 18 milliseconds, a normal on-state signal delay of 10 milliseconds and a maximum off-state current of 2 milliamperes. The 1771-IQ16K has a typical off-state delay of -/+15 milliseconds. For wiring, the 1771-WN wiring arm is used. The wiring arm screw’s torque is between 7 and 9-inch pounds. The 1771-IQ16K occupies a slot in the input/output chassis.
