The Allen-Bradley/Rockwell automation 1771-IN product is a PLC5 digital input module that uses both AC and DC connections. This 1771-IN module houses 8 inputs and the AC operating voltage ranges from 12-28V AC. As a digital input module, the 1771-IN module acts as an interface to the limit switches, pushbutton switches, motor starters, pilot lights, enunciators, and other ON/OFF devices. In addition, the 1771-IN module is compatible with all programmable controllers that have been produced by Allen-Bradley in the recent past.
The design of the 1771-IN input module allows it to minimize the necessary spare parts, training costs, system engineering, and inventory. Furthermore, the 1771-IN module has an electric-optical isolation as well as a filter circuit of the AC I/O that helps it during the trouble shooting processes. The indicator lights show the input and the output status of the 1771-IN module and they are always displayed on the front panel. Through the Allen-Bradley 1771 I/O chassis backplane, the 1771-IN module draws an 80mA backplane maximum current for its power usage. The maximum AC power usage when on the OFF-state is 28mA. The 1771-IN digital input module has a 1771-WA wiring arm, hence eliminating need to disconnect the I/O in order to change the module. Another additional feature is the fault mode selector that provides ease while resetting the 1771-IN module to the previous state after an output failure. This is normally done using a configuration plug that is found on the circuit board.
