The Allen-Bradley 1771-IEC analog input module is an 8-bit module weighing less than 0.4 Kilograms in total weight. Users can install it in any machine system which uses the Allen-Bradley programmable controllers with block transfer capability for a 1771 I/O structure. The Allen-Bradley 1771-IEC PLC-5 analog input module is a Series A module which users can place in any kind of I/O chassis slot. Two input modules may be put in the same module group but never use them simultaneously with a discrete high-density module. The modules may also not be placed near a high voltage DC module. This intelligent block transfer module interfaces with the analog input signals from any programmable controllers that can handle block transfers. The programming moves the input data words from the module memory to a designated area in the processor data table. It takes only a single scan to move these data words. The 1771-IEC module can also move configuration words from the processor data table to the module memory.
The 1771-IEC is a single-slot module requiring 500mA of current from the I/O chassis backplane power supply. When using passive transducers for input, you must supply it with loop power. It can sense as many as 16 single-ended or 8 differential analog inputs, thereby converting them to a proportionate 4-digit BCD or to a 12-bit binary valve. Selections may be made from 5 voltage ranges or 3 current input ranges with each input being configured as a current input or as a voltage input that has internal jumpers. The features that may be selected include the single-ended or differential inputs, selectable real-time sampling, engineering units scaling, digital filtering, and data formats.
