The Allen-Bradley 1771-ID16GM is an isolated input module for PLC-5 systems. It is specially designed for use by General Motors devices. The input voltage on the 1771-ID16GM is capped at 120 Volts AC. Furthermore, surge suppression (external) must be provided for solenoid or inductive input loads. The 1771-ID16GM module provides 16 inputs. The range of input voltage is from 105 to 120 Volts AC at 47 to 63 Hertz. Nominal values for input voltage and current are 120 Volts AC and 2.5 milliamps AC, respectively. The minimum on-state voltage is 105 Volts AC whereas the minimum on-state current is 2.0 milliamps at 105 Volts AC. The maximum off-state voltage is 45 Volts AC and the maximum off-state current is 0.8 milliamps at 45 Volts AC.
The 1771-ID16GM module draws a maximum of 75 milliamps of current from the chassis backplane. The power dissipation ranges from a minimum of 0.3 Watts to a maximum of 7.0 Watts. The thermal dissipation ranges from a minimum of 1.0 BTU/hour to a maximum of 23.8 BTU/hour. The channel-to-channel isolation voltage is tested at 1500 Volts AC for 1 second and the channel-to-backplane isolation voltage is tested at 1500 Volts AC for 1 second. A maximum of 1000 feet of cable is recommended to be used with the 1771-ID16GM. The recommended cable size is 14 to 22 AWG (solid/stranded copper) with a maximum of 1.2 millimeters insulation. The operating temperature range for the 1771-ID16GM is from 0 to 60 degrees Celsius and the storage temperature range is from -40 to 85 degrees Celsius.
