The Allen-Bradley 1771-IB module is an input module with a voltage capacity ranging from 10 through 27V DC with a total of 8 inputs per module. The module receives power from the backplane chassis of its 1771 I/O power supply. It requires 74mA from the output of this supply. It comes fitted with a filter so that it limits the voltage transients impact that is caused by contact bounce or from any radiated noise. The delay due to input filtering may be nominally 12+/-ms when turning inputs on and approximately the same delay when turning inputs off.
Take note of the off-state leakage of the 1771-IB module, which should never exceed 3mA. The 1771-IB module is fully compatible with 2 or 3-wire devices which include float switches, photoelectric sensors, selector switches, DC proximity switches, push buttons, and limit switches. It is easy to directly drive terminals on any 12-24V DC input module. The keying specifications for the 1771-IB module are shipped together with each I/O chassis and users may only use the plastic keying bands for the slots to fit perfectly. Ensure that the backplane connector corresponds directly with the chassis slots to allow for proper insertion when installing the module.
Installation of the module must always be carried out after all the I/O chassis power has been turned off. Users may then place the 1771-IB in the plastic tracks on the upper and lower ends of the slot which guides the module into the proper position. To seat the module properly, users need to apply firm and evenly distributed pressure. After this, snap the latch over the module top, connecting the wiring arm to the 1771-IB, and then connect the wiring to the field as specified onto the 4 terminal field wiring arms that come with each of the I/O modules.
