The Allen-Bradley 1771-IA PLC5 Digital Input Module uses both AC and DC sources of power. The 1771-IA is mainly used to convert AC signals from the main users, to logic level signals that are understandable by the processor in the controller module. The 1771-IA is important for controlling the state of matching bits that are available in the PLC data table and it has several input devices. Some of these devices are pushbuttons, pilot lights, limit switches, motor starters, and annunciators that are used for interfaces with the on/off actuators and sensors. The 1771-IA input module is valuable when it comes to adding signal input to a PLC control system since it is designed to be a space-saving unit. The 1771-IA has a wiring arm called the 1771-WA that makes it possible for the input module to be replaced without disconnecting wires. The 1771-IA is a module in the C series that supports a number of I/O addressing, ½, 1, and 2 slots, while offering uses with the proximity switches of AC/ DC.
The 1771-IA input module has 8 inputs and its voltage usage belongs in the 120V AC/DC voltage category. However, it is recommended that the 1771-IA module works within 87-138V AC operating voltage range. In any case, the 1771-IA module still has a 24ms AC signal delay while it is at the on and off. This AC signal delay changes to 10ms at on state and later to 20ms when it is off in the DC State. The 1771-IA module has a 2.8mA maximum off-state current and a 75mA backplane current load. Other additional features of the 1771-IA input module include additional protection due to the opto-electrical isolation that insulates the circuit system from electrical transients and an input filtering that is useful since it blocks electrical noise.
