The Allen Bradley 1771-HD is a hand-held programing terminal and its display can accommodate four lines and a total of 16 characters. The 1771-HD is used with the IMC 120 system to display errors. It also provides an easy way to alter system parameters and variables by using the Offline Development System (ODS) when perform the variable manipulation. The 1771-HD has five selectable menus, which are Jogs, Debug, File Manager, Status, and Teach Position. These menus are selected using the corresponding key on the 1771-HD module; the keys are the <JOGS>, <DEBUG>, <FILEMGR>, <STATUS>, and <TEACH POSN>, respectively.
The 1771-HD can be extended to maximum of 8 meters from the RS-232 port on the motion controller module. This extension can be completed using the 1771-CAS cable. The hand-held programming terminal is connected to an external 240 Volts AC or 120 Volts AC power supply using the 1771-CAS cable. The 9-pin D shell connector cable (25 foot) is used to interface the 1771-HD with the servo controller module through the RS-232 port for communication purposes.
The 1771-HD’s hard and soft specialized keys are used to perform the different function on the hand-held pendant programing interface. The soft-key enable variable functions to be performed on the 1771-HD while the hard-keys enable permanently assigned functions. Both keys select and respond to displays. When the 1771-HD is connected to the servo control module, it forms part of the emergency stop circuit. When disconnecting the 1771-HD from the IMC 120 system, press the Emergency Stop reset button to prevent the system from going into an emergency stop.
