The Allen Bradley 1771-E1C is an analog input expander which is used with 1771-E1 analog input expander module. The 1771-E1C provides 8 12-bit single ended analog inputs. The 1771-E1 collects data linked to an analog input module (1771-IF) which is then multiplexed to form a single signal (output). The output signal is transmitted to analog input module using cables. Communication between the analog input module and expander module is done using the backplane of the Input Output chassis. Communication through the I/O chassis helps the module to control multiplexing which is achieved by addressing the expander input channel individually in sequence.
The 1771-E1C provides four selectable DC voltages (input) 0 to 10 Volts, 0 to 5 Volts, -10 to 10 Volts, 1 to 5 Volts. Additionally, the 1771-E1C has selectable current (input) that ranges between 0 and 20 mA, 4 and 20 mA, or -20 and 20 mA. The 1771-E1C has an RMS circuit isolation of 1500 Volts. For keying into the 1771 Input Output rack, pins 8 to 10 and 24 to 26 are used to connect to the module connectors. The 1771-E1C has 35 ppm per degree Celsius coefficient temperature rating when the mode is switched to voltage. When the mode is switched to current the coefficient temperature increases up to 45 ppm per degree Celsius.
The 1771-E1C draws a current of 150 mA from the backplane. The module has a temperature rating of 0 to 60 degrees Celsius when in operation. The 1771-E1C must be operated in environments that have a 5 to 95% relative humidity without condensation. The 1771-E1C has 250/109 Ohms input resistance in current and voltage modes respectively.
