Other Available Revisions for the 1771-DMC4 1771-DMC4//A
The 1771-DMC4 is a product of the Allen-Bradley branch of Rockwell Automation. This module is a PLC-5 Control Coprocessor Main Module that is mainly used to expand the capacity of the programmable controller systems. The 1771-DMC4 operates like the rest of the 1771-DMC control coprocessor modules that run C, BASIC and assembler programs. However, the 1771-DMC4 is considered an intelligent module that can surpass the capabilities of all those other modules. These programs perform tasks that include the manipulation and analysis of inputs, outputs, and other information that is gathered from the programmable controller system. These programs also communicate information between devices that are external to the programmable controller system, using ports such as the asynchronous serial communication port, or the Ethernet port. The 1771-DMC4 has a variety of communication ports, including the COMM0, COMM1, COMM2, COMM3 ports. Each of these communication ports is compatible with different RS protocols: the COMM0 is compatible with RS-232C, 9 pin, while COMM1, COMM2, and COMM3 are compatible with RS-232C, RS-423, RS-485 or RS-422, 25 pin. The 1771-DMC4 also has Ethernet ports which accept the TCP/IP protocol, using TELNET, FTP, and socket library routines via the 15-pin standard transceiver. The communication rates for all these ports are measured in kbps, dropping as low as 110 and 150 bps and reaching up to 19.2 and 38.4 kbps. On average, the Ethernet rate is about 10 mbps. The 1771-DMC4 receives a backplane current to the main module of 4A, at about 5 Volts DC. To the serial expander module that has a separate port other than the port of the main module, the 1771-DMC4 receives a current of 1.5 A at 5 Volts DC. Both modules of the 1771-DMC4 can be used together or separately, as they have separate ports.
