The Rockwell Automation, Allen-Bradley 1771-DA unit is a universal Input-Output (I/O) modular product of the PLC product line. The 1771-DA is generally a PLC-5 ASCII I/O module that is used to transfer data from any ASCII machines to a processor data table that has a programmable controller, all via an I/O scan. The 1771-DA also has a data table that is both expandable and effective enough to grant transferability of blocks via the ASCII module. It has a communication port protocol, an RS-232-C port, a wiring arm (catalog number 1771-WN), and a conformal coat. Through the RS-232-C 200 mA loop that carries current and the A-B long line, the 1771-DA also provides an interface and guarantees various communications rates that are selectable; these rates of communication include 110, 300, 600, 1200, 2400, 4800, and 9600 Bauds.
The 1771-DA is located in the I/O slot of the 1771 chassis. Here, it draws an average of 1.0 Amps from the back-plane or a maximum of 1.3 Amps of backplane current. The 1771-DA also has a buffer memory of 1.5k words per 3 kb along with a variety of additional features that allow the use of top connectors for I/O module keying.
