The Allen Bradley 1771-CT is a parallel interconnection cable. It connects two power supplies in the Input-Output chassis. Two power supplies are best suited for when a higher current is necessary to sustain the modules in the Input Output chassis. When two power supplies are connected and one shuts down, the second one will take over until it reaches its DC output limit. When using the 1771-CT cable to interface between the two power modules, first loop the 1771-CT paralleling cable over the upper side of the Input-Output chassis. This prevents the the 1771-CT cable from picking up the induced signals from the Input-Output wiring. After looping the two power supplies, turn them on at the same time; failure to do this will result in the first power supply turned on to shut itself down because of too much current flowing. The 1771-CT also does not cater for grounding. Connect the power supply’s ground (GND) terminal to the central ground bus in the enclosure. The 1771-CT cable can be used with the 1771-P4S and 1771-P6S power supplies. Before using the cable, test it for a short circuit. This is done by inserting one end of the 1771-CT cable into a power supply; the other end should be free. Turn the power supply on. If the Active indicator on the power supply turns on, then the forsat end of the 1771-CT cable is ready. Repeat the procedure for the other end. If the Active indicator on the power supply does not turn on, then the 1771-CT has a short circuit and should be replaced.
