The Allen Bradley 1771-ASC is an I/O adapter module. This adapter module interfaces with the programmable controller in order to connect to the remote Input-Output. This module draws a current of 1 A from the backplane at 5 Volts DC. And has an operating temperature rating between 0 and 60 degrees Celsius and a storage temperature rating between -40 and 85 degrees Celsius. Using the 1770-CD interconnection cable, the 1771-ASC can be placed at a distance of 2500, 5000, or 10000 feet from the processor; additionally, the 1771-ASC provides a communication rate of 230400, 115200, and 57600 baud. The 1771-ASC has a power dissipation rating of 3 Watts and a thermal dissipation rating of 17.1 BTU/hour.The 1771-ASC should be installed on the 1771 Input-Output chassis, where it occupies the slot on the far left. The 1771-ASC module is UL, CSA, C-TICK and CE certified. For cabling, the module uses a 20 AWG copper wire, which has a 1.2 millimeter insulation plus one wire peer terminal. The 1771-ASC module is keyed to the chassis backplane using the pins 54 & 56 for the upper connection, and the pins 16 & 18 for the lower connection. The 1771-ASC I/O adapter module uses a field wiring arm (catalog number 1771-WB) to connect analog signals. A 150 or 80 Ohm termination resistor is used to provide termination. The 1771-ASC has ACTIVE, ADAPTER FAULT, and I/O RACK FAULT LED indicators on its front panel to aid in monitoring and troubleshooting procedures. The 1771-ASC module is rated to be used in environments with a relative humidity of between 5 and 95% without condensation.
