The Allen-Bradley 1771-A2B is an input and output back-panel-mounted chassis that houses Allen-Bradley 1771 input/output modules. It has 8 slots. The 1771-A2B comes in an open enclosure weighing approximately 10.3 pounds and spanning 12.4 x 9 x 14 inches. The backplane facilitates communication between the installed modules and processor.
The 1771-A2B chassis can receive its power from external power supplies, power supply modules, and from processors that have integrated power supplies. A load of 16 amps at 5V DC is the highest operating backplane current load that the 1771-A2B can handle. The chassis can be grounded by using the grounding studs which are connected to a central ground bus. It also functions optimally at temperature ranges of 0 to 60 degrees Celsius and in 5-95% relative non-condensing humidity.
The power supply for the 1771-A2B chassis is set using the configuration jumper. To configure the chassis to work with an external power supply it is set to the “N” position, and when it is receiving power from a power supply module or from a processor with an integrated power supply, it is set to the “Y” position. The 1771-A2B chassis can be powered by both of these sources, but only by one at a time.
The 1771-A2B is intended for use in an industrial environment with a Pollution Degree 2 pollution rating. Ensure that the spacing inside of the enclosure is adequate for the components (chassis) to be installed. There should be at least 4 inches between the side of the enclosure and a major component (chassis). Likewise, there should be 4 inches horizontal distance and 6 inches vertical between the major components.
