The Allen-Bradley 1791ES-IB16 safety module is a CompactBlock and Guard I/O 1791ES series I/O safety module that can be used in industrial safety systems. This module is enclosed in an IP20-rated enclosure that protects it from small amounts of dust. The 1791ES-IB16 module has a communication current consumption rating of 250 mA at 24V DC and operates within a voltage range of 19.2 to 28.8V DC. It has a total of 16 safety inputs. This safety module’s inputs are current sinking inputs that comply with the IEC 61131-2 Type 3 industrial standards. Each input requires a minimum on-state voltage rating of 11V DC and a minimum on-state current rating of 3.3 mA. The maximum off-state voltage for the inputs is 5V DC, and the maximum off-state current for the inputs of 1.3 mA. For testing and diagnostic purposes, the 1791ES-IB16 module features 16 test outputs that are current sourcing types of outputs. Each output can handle a pulse test output current rating of 0.7 A, with a total module capacity of 8 A at both 40°C and 60°C. The 1791ES-IB16 module maintains a maximum residual voltage rating of 1.2V and a maximum output leakage current rating of 0.1 mA, ensuring precision in safety control applications. The Allen-Bradley 1791ES-IB16 safety module supports both current sourcing outputs and current sinking outputs in a bipolar pair configuration. Each output point can handle a maximum output current rating of 2 A, with a total module capacity of 8 A at 40°C and 6 A at 60°C. The 1791ES-IB16 module has an on-state voltage drop rating of +/- 0.6V, minimizing energy loss.
