Allen-Bradley engineered the ETAP1F is an Ethernet I/P industrial networking device. This item is basically an Ethernet switch with copper ports and a fiber optic interface. This module is perfect for connecting Allen-Bradley equipment such as controllers, communication devices, and visualization devices, in order to construct an industrially certified automation system. This switch includes two (2) copper ports and one (1) fiber optic interface for Ethernet communication. The 1783-ETAP1F's dual copper ports support 10/100 Mbps with auto-negotiation and full or half duplex modes. In contrast, the single fiber optic ports support 100Mbps as well as longer communication distances with higher immunity to electrical noises and disturbances. The copper lines have a maximum distance of 100 meters, while fiber links cover a distance of 2 kilometers. The 1783-ETAP1F is an externally mounted switch that does not require a backplane to be installed; nonetheless, an adequate enclosure is necessary to house the device for protection against industrial factors that may damage the module. The 1783-ETAP1F requires 24VDC (nominal) with an applicable range of 20.4 to 27.6 volts DC. It consumes a maximum 200 mA (milliamps) current at 24VDC; the power consumption value is 4.8 kilowatts. This device can be attached using a regular DIN rail or directly to the mounting plate of the enclosure. It can be mounted horizontally or vertically, with minimum clearances of 7.62 cm (3 inches) on the bottom of the tap and 2.54 cm (1 inch) on the remaining sides of the tap. This device uses an IP20 rated enclosure, and its operational temperature ranges from 0 to 60 degrees Centigrade (32 to 140 °F).
