The Allen-Bradley Logix5550 (catalog number: 1756-L1) is a controller module for ControlLogix systems. The Logix5550 is equipped with 64 KB for data and logic memory. The memory on the module can be increased by using optional memory modules including the 1756–M1 (512 Kbytes), 1756-M2 (1 Mbytes), and 1756-M3 (2 Mbytes). The Logix5550 module does not contain any nonvolatile memory. The Logix5550 can be installed in any slot in the system chassis. Multiple Logix5550 modules can be installed in the same chassis. The 1756-BA1 battery module can be used as a replacement for the battery on the Logix5550. Serial cables which can be used for programming of the module include the 1756-CP3 or the 1747-CP3.
The Logix5550 draws 0.65 Amps of current at 5.1 Volts DC and 0.02 Amps of current at 24 Volts DC. The power dissipated by the module is 3.3 Watts and the thermal dissipation is 11.3 BTU/hour. To prevent an electric arc, it is recommended to remove/install the Logix5550 module, connect/disconnect the battery, and connect/disconnect the serial programming cable with either the chassis power switched off or by ensuring that the environment is non-hazardous. To prevent damage to the module and chassis, static control precautions should also be followed. The Logix5550 is available as an open module. The operating and storage temperature ranges for the Logix5550 are 0 to 60 degrees Celsius and -40 to 85 degrees Celsius, respectively. The range for non-condensing relative humidity is 5 to 95%. The weight of the module is 0.28 kilograms.
