The Allen-Bradley 1756-OF8IH ControlLogix HART Output Module provides 8 isolated differential current outputs and 1 HART modem per channel when installed in any 1756 I/O chassis slot. The 1756-OF8IH has an output range of 0–20mA and 4–20mA with 15 bits of channel resolution over 24mA, and it uses an estimated 400mA of backplane current at 24V DC. In addition to Open Circuit Detection with over-voltage protection at ±24V DC, it provides output short-circuit protection by electrically limiting the output current to a value not exceeding 21mA (<=21mA). The module can drive between 50 and 750 volts (with short circuit survival) and has a load reactance of 10 H. Its load-dependent settling time is less than 100 ms while HART is active and less than 23 ms when HART is deactivated. Calibration of the 1756-OF8IH is required, on average, every 12 months, and has an accuracy of 0.15% at 4–20 mA. It has a gain drift of ±4 ppm, a full-scale OFFSET drift of ±3 ppm, and a module error of 0.3% at 4–20 mA. Using IEEE 32-bit floating point data format, the 1756-OF8IH has an estimated module HART scan time of 1s and uses the R-Ladder DAC output conversion technology. The 250V voltage isolation using reinforced insulation tested for 60 seconds at 3535V DC and 250V voltage isolation using basic insulation tested for 60 seconds at 2120V DC provide output-to-output and output-to-ground voltage isolation. Its circuit uses copper wire, and the temperature codes T4A (North America), T4ATEX, and EIC are applied to the module as a whole. With an ambient temperature of 60 °C (140 °F) and a non-condensing humidity of 5-95%, the 1756-OF8IH has an operating temperature range of 0-60 °C.
