The Allen-Bradley 1756-M16SE is a 16-axis SERCOS interface module for ControlLogix systems. It is compatible with Kinetix drives including the 2098 Ultra3000 SERCOS drive and the 2099 Kinetix 7000 drive. SERCOS modules communicate with drives via a fiber-optic cable. Glass and plastic fiber-optic cables can be used. A maximum of 16 drives can be managed by one 1756-M16SE module. The module supports position, torque, and velocity control modes. The fiber-optic connection supports 4/8 Mbps data rates. Compatible plastic cables include the 2090-SCEPxx-0 and the 2090-SCNPxx-0. The compatible glass cable is the 2090-SCVGxx-0. The fiber-optics have a rating of Class 1 for IEC LED safety classification.
The 1756-M16SE takes up one slot in the I/O chassis. It is recommended to either remove the chassis power or to ensure that the working area is non-hazardous before removing or installing the module in the chassis. The maximum power dissipated by the 1756-M16SE is 5.0 Watts. The module current consumption at 5.1 Volts DC is 0.76 Amps and at 24 Volts DC is 2.5 mA. The compatible power supply modules include the 1756-PH75/B, 1756-PB75/B, and the 1756-PA75/B. Compatible redundant power supplies include the 1756-PSCA2 and the 1756-PA75R. The 1756-M16SE comes as an open module. It requires a 0 to 60 degrees Celsius temperature range for optimal operation. The temperature for the surrounding air must not go above 60 degrees Celsius. The recommended temperature range for storage is -40 to 85 Degrees Celsius. The recommended relative humidity range is 5 to 95%. The shock rating for operation mode is 30G and the non-operating shock rating is 50G.
