The Allen-Bradley 1756-M08SEG is a SERCOS interface module with 8-axis support for ControlLogix platforms which is compliant with the extended pack profile. It is compatible with Kinetix drives including the 2094 Kinetix 6000 and the 2093 Kinetic 2000 multiple-axis drives. The 1756-M08SEG uses a digital optical-fiber link for connectivity with attached drives. The optical fiber link enables the replacement of a maximum of 18 digital wires per axis. Plastic and glass optical fiber cables can be used. The supported plastic fiber cables include the 2090-SCEPxx-0, 2090-SCVPxx-0 and the 2090-SCNPxx-0. The supported glass fiber cable is the 2090-SCGVxx-0.
The 1756-M08SEG’s optical fiber link supports data rates of 4 and 8 Mbps. The cycle times for a 4 Mbps data rate are 0.5 milliseconds (for 2 drives), 1 millisecond (for 4 drives), and 2 milliseconds (for 8 drives). The cycle times for an 8 Mbps data rate are 0.5 milliseconds (for 4 drives), and 1 millisecond (for 8 drives). The 0.5 milliseconds cycle time is supported by the Kinetix 6000 drives. Up to 8 drives are supported by the 1756-M08SEG and it is compatible with the extended pack profile. It supports the position control mode. The module takes up one slot in the 1756 chassis and it can be installed in any slot.The current drawn by the module at 24 Volts DC is 2.5 mA and at 5.1 Volts DC is 760 mA. The 1756-M08SEG is available as a non-enclosed module. The working temperature range is 0 to 60 degrees Celsius and the working relative humidity range is 5 to 95%.
