The 1756-M03SE is a SERCOS interface module from Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation. The Serial Real-time Communication System (SERCOS) helps to interface ControlLogix controllers with the SERCOS interface drives. As with other SERCOS interface modules, the 1756-M03SE makes it possible to use real-time, high-speed serial communication to control digital drives. The module accommodates up to a maximum of 3 drives. The Serial Communication System used by the 1756-M03S provides a communication speed of either 4 or 8 MB per second. At 4 MB, the 1756-M03SE has a SERCOS cycle time of 0.5 milliseconds for up to 2 drives and 1 millisecond for a maximum of 4 drives.
At 8 megabytes, the 1756-M03SE has a SERCOS cycle time of 0.5 milliseconds to a maximum of 4 drives. The interface module has a power dissipation rating of 5 Watts, and a 10 Volts per meter of radiated RF immunity. The ESD immunity for the 1756-M03SE is rated at 4 kilovolts for contact discharges and 8 kilovolts for air discharges. The module uses velocity, torque, and position modes to control drives. The 1756-M03SE should be installed in an I/O chassis (1756-A4, 1756-A7, 1756-A10, 1756-A13, or the 1756-A17) where it occupies a one slot. For connections to and from the drive, the 1756-M03SE uses plastic or glass fiber-optic cables. The module has 3 axes. The 1756-M03SE has an operating and non-operating shock rating of 30G and 50G, respectively, while the maximum operating temperature rating for the 1756-M03SE is 60 degrees Celsius. The module is CE and C-Tick certified. When not in operation, the 1756-M03SE must be stored at a temperature of between -40 and 85 degrees Celsius.
