The Allen Bradley 1756-L55M14 is one of the control modules which can be used with ControlLogix systems. The user memory available on the 1756-L55M14 is 3.5 MB. Power from a battery module is required for the user memory. Three battery modules are supported by the 1756-L55M14: the 1756-BA1 provides backup for a minimum of 30 days at 25 degrees Celsius and both the 1756-BATM and 1756-BATA provide backup for a minimum of 213 days at 25 degrees Celsius. The non-volatile memory is not shipped with the 1756-L55M14, and needs to be ordered separately: two modules with capacities of 64 MB or 128 MB are available. The amount of memory available for I/O is 208 KB. The supported programming cables include the 1756-CP3 and the 1747-CP3.
One serial RS-232 port is available as standard on the 1756-L55M14. The serial protocols which are supported include the ASCII, Modbus, DH-485, and DF1 protocols. For integration with other networks, optional communication modules can be ordered as required. The available optional modules for communication include the SynchLink, DH+, Ethernet, Remote I/O, ControlNet, and DeviceNet networks. Specifications for the maximum power and thermal dissipation ratings for the 1756-L55M14 are 5.7 Watts and 19.4 BTU/hour, respectively. The current requirements at 5 Volts and 24 Volts DC are 1250 mA and 14 mA, respectively. The module performs as per its specifications in environments where the ambient temperature is between 0 and 60 degrees Celsius and where the relative humidity is between 5 and 95%.
