The Allen-Bradley 1756-L55M12 module provides 750 KB of user memory and 200 KB of I/O memory. Non-volatile memory is not available on the 1756-L55M12. Optional CompactFlash memory modules are available for non-volatile memory: the 1784-CF64 module provides 64 MB memory and the 1784-CF128 module provides 128 MB memory for permanently storing user programs. The module includes an integrated RS-232 serial port. Optional modules available for communication include Remote I/O, Ethernet, DeviceNet. ControlNet and DH+. A 1747-CP3 or 1756-CP3 serial cable is recommended for use as a programming cable.
The 1756-L55M12 can be installed in any slot of a ControlLogix chassis. The ControlLogix systems support multiple controllers per chassis which communicate via the chassis backplane. The 1756-BA1 battery provides a minimum of 63 days of battery life at 25 degrees Celsius. The 175-BATM and 1756-BATA battery modules provide a minimum of 299 days of battery life at 25 degrees Celsius. The storage and operating temperature ranges for the 1756-L55M12 are -40 to 85 degrees Celsius and 0 to 60 degrees Celsius. The supported range of relative humidity is from 5 to 95% (non-condensing). The vibration rating of the module is 2G at 10 to 500 Hertz. The shock ratings for storage and operation are 50G and 30G, respectively.
