The Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation 1756-IM16I is a ControlLogix AC input module featuring 16 inputs which are individually isolated. The module is operated by an AC power supply with a rated voltage of between 159 and 265 Volts AC with 240 Volts AC being the normal voltage. The 1756-IM16I, as with other ControlLogix input modules, utilizes a time stamp and a 64-bit system clock to put a time stamp on data exchanged between the modules in the control system. When communicating, the 1756-IM16I input module returns input data with the value of the system clock from its local chassis when the input data changes.
All ControlLogix input modules, including the 1756-IM16I, have status indicators to show when the module is in the normal operating state, has successfully initiated a self-diagnostics feature and that indicates when the module should be replaced (the OK status LED continuously glows red). Also, when the OK status indicator flashes red, it signifies that the module has lost a previously established communication connection. The I/O status indicator lights up yellow when the input is ON. When the input experiences a fault, the Fault status indicator will glow red. The 1756-IM16I ControlLogix AC input module uses the 1492-IFM40DS240A-4 interface module which is prewired on one end with the other end connecting to the field-side wiring. The 1756-IM16I operates at a frequency of between 47 and 63 hertz. The thermal and power rating (backplane) for the digital input module is rated at 19.8 BTU per hour and 0.6 watts, respectively.
