The Allen-Bradley 1756-IB16 is a Digital DC Input Module with 16 inputs for ControlLogix systems. This is a 12 to 24 Volts DC sink type module. Its input operating voltage is 10 to 31.2 Volts DC. Operators can use the 1756-IB16 module in the local chassis of a ControlLogix PLC or through a chassis linked to the PLC over EtherNet or ControlNet networks. This DC input module houses 16 inputs (2 groups with 8 points each). It needs either an RTB or a Bulletin 1492 wiring interface module for connection purposes to industrial automation devices. The Allen-Bradley 1756-IB16 has a high-speed computing functionality and it is connected to the ControlLogix PLC via the backplane. The cycle update time is always less than 750 milliseconds.
On the front side of the Allen-Bradley 1756-IB16, there are 16 I/O status LED indicators. Each of them turns yellow when a corresponding input is active. The user can assign a filtering time for each input. The filtering can be set to 0 milliseconds (no filtering), 1 milliseconds, 2 milliseconds, 9 milliseconds, or 18 milliseconds. For ease of maintenance, the Allen-Bradley 1756-IB16 provides a removal and insertion under power feature. The module can be stored at -40 to +85 degrees Celsius (-40 to +185 degrees Fahrenheit) temperatures. The operating temperature range is 0 to 60 degrees Celsius (32 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit). This module has ATEX and C-Tick certificates, and it is CE, CSA, and cULus marked. It has 250 Volts isolated voltage(inputs to the backplane and input groups).
