The 1756-CPR2D is a cable for redundant a power supply that is intended for a chassis adapter from the 1756 ControlLogix series of products by Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation. The purpose of the redundant power supply system of the ControlLogix is to compensate for the power supply anomalies during operation. The ControlLogix range of products does not include the chassis adapter or the related power supply cables by default. These parts must be purchased separately in order to have a complete system which could be used for different applications. The intended purpose of the system for the redundant power supply is to provide supplementary uptime chassis protection. This kind of protection is important and essential for the applications that are considered to be highly demanding. The ControlLogix redundant power supply offers AC or DC versions that can be combined if necessary. The design of the ControlLogix redundant power supply provides the possibility of compensating for the complete chassis load if there is a failure of the primary power supply. If such an event occurs, the secondary remaining power supply takes over and the chassis adapter is not disrupted.
The length of the 1756-CPR2D cable for the chassis adapter is the standard length 0.91 meters or 3 feet. One of the main conditions that must be met when connecting the 1756-CPR2D cable is that the bend radius of the cable should not be less than the minimum required mounting chassis clearance. In order to maintain cable integrity, the mounting clearance of the chassis should always be kept at the minimum. Besides that, the 1756-CPR2D cable requires clearance of at least 10.16 centimeters (4 inches) next to the chassis adapter. The 1756-PSCA2 chassis adapter, for which the 1756-CPR2D cable is intended, is categorized as a passive device since its uses include directing the power from one or two redundant power supplies of the ControlLogix to the connector with single-phase power on the backplane of the chassis.
