1769SM2 Allen Bradley MODULE COMPACT I/O TO DSI AB Rockwell Automation
The 1769-SM2 module is a conversion module manufactured by Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation. The module is used for converting compact I/O devices to DSI/Modbus devices. This network communication module is part of the 1769 series and it supports DIN rail mounting. The supported DIN rail sizes are 35 x 7.5 millimeters and 35 x 15 millimeters per the EN 50 022 standards. In addition to that, the 1769-SM2 module provides an option for mounting on the panel. The mounting can be done with a pair of screws and the module tolerates a hole spacing of +/- 0.04 millimeters (0.016 inches). The type of supported panhead screws are M4 or #8 screws. The installation of the module is easy and it does not take much time.
The 1769-SM2 module has a backplane current of 350 milliamps at 5.1 Volts and it has a power supply distance rating of 4 modules. Typically, the module is intended for PowerFlex 4 drives and Modbus RTU slave devices. The Modbus RTU-slave devices include components from series like the PowerFlex 70, PowerFlex 700, and PowerFlex 700S series. All compatible PowerFlex drives are designed for AC power sources and they are equipped with adapters of the 20-COMM-H type. The 1769-SM2 module can be divided into banks which each require a separate power supply. The module banks are usually connected with supported expansion cables and the end cap is placed on the last I/O bank. The 1769-SM2 module is used with a variety of components designed by Allen-Bradley. Some of the compatible components are CompactLogix controllers, remote 1769-based adapters, and MicroLogix 1500 base units and processors.
